What is the Oxford exam?

Practical and flexible English certification Oxford Test of English is a general English certification exam developed by Oxford University Press and certified by the University of Oxford. It is known for its flexibility and adaptability to current technology, allowing candidates to take the complete exam or by modules.

What is evaluated?

The Oxford Test of English evaluates the four basic language skills and is designed to reflect the use of English in real life, both in social, professional and academic contexts. This exam is recognized by various educational institutions and promises quick results in just 14 days.

How many variants are there?

The exam consists of four modules that correspond to the basic language skills: Reading Comprehension (Reading) Listening (Listening) Oral Expression (Speaking) Written Expression (Writing) The modules can be made in any order and combination. There is an advanced version of the Oxford Test of English known as the Oxford Test of English Advanced. This version is designed to assess English proficiency in a range of academic, professional and social situations at levels B2 and C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The exam is 100% online and certified by the University of Oxford. The Oxford Test of English Advanced consists of four modules: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. The Listening and Reading modules are adaptive by computer, while the Speaking and Writing modules are random with randomly selected questions from a bank of items. The Speaking and Writing modules are rated by trained and expert examiners.

How much does it cost?

The Oxford exam fees are as follows: One module: €95.00 Two modules: €95.00 Three modules: €125.00 Four modules (complete exam): €125.00. It is important to mention that these rates may vary and it is advisable to check with the exam center for the most up-to-date information. In addition, the registration deadline is 30 days before the exam date, and the exam dates are usually the third Friday of each month. As for the rates of the Advanced exam, you can expect them to be similar or slightly higher than those of the standard Oxford Test of English due to the advanced level of the exam.

Reading

Reading Comprehension (Reading) Duration: 35 minutes. Parts: Multiple-choice questions in short texts: Six short texts with multiple-choice questions. Multiple match: Combine profiles of people with text descriptions. Sentences with spaces: Insert phrases in a longer text. Multiple-choice questions in a longer text: Answer questions based on a long text.

Writing

Written Expression (Writing) Duration: 45 minutes. Parts: Email: Write a response to an email received. Essay or article/review: Write an essay or article on a given topic.

Listening

Listening (Listening) Duration: 30 minutes. Parts: Multiple option with images: Listen to monologues or dialogues and choose the right answer. Complete notes: Listen to a monologue and complete notes with multiple-choice options. Match opinions: Identify opinions in a dialogue. Multiple choice: Answer multiple-choice questions based on short audios.

Speaking

Oral Expression (Speaking) Duration: 15 minutes. Parts: Interview: Answer questions about everyday topics. Voicemail: Record voice messages in response to given situations. Talk: Perform a monologue on a specific topic. Follow-up questions: Answer questions related to the monologue.
