What is the Cambridge exam?

World-renowned English certification. Cambridge English Qualifications are a series of English exams that certify your level of language proficiency and are internationally recognized by universities and companies. The Cambridge English exams are designed to evaluate all language skills and are available at different levels, from beginners (A1) to advanced (C2). These exams are offered by more than 2800 centers in 130 countries.

What is evaluated?

The Cambridge English exams evaluate the following language skills: Reading: Evaluate your ability to understand texts written in English. Speaking: Measure your ability to communicate in English verbally. Written Expression (Writing): Examine your competence to write in English effectively. Listening: Test your ability to understand spoken English.

How many variants are there?

A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First, C1 Advanced, and C2 Proficiency: Each of these exams corresponds to a level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and evaluates all the language skills mentioned above.

How much does it cost?

The price of Cambridge exams varies according to the level and the exam center. It is advisable to contact the nearest exam center for up-to-date information on prices. The results are provided in the Cambridge English Scale, and you will receive a score for each language skill as well as a global score. In addition, you will be assigned a level of the CEFR in the global exam.

Reading and Use Of English

Reading and Use of Language (Reading and Use of English) Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes. Parts: Multiple-choice blanks: A text with numbered blanks, each with four possible answers (A, B, C or D). Blanks with an open answer: A text with blanks that represent a missing word. Word formation: Transform words to complete a text. Transformations with keywords: Rewrite sentences while maintaining the same meaning using a given keyword. Objective: To evaluate the ability to handle different types of text and demonstrate a good use of grammar and vocabulary.

Writing

Written Expression (Writing) Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes. Parts: Writing texts: Write two different texts, such as essays, letters/emails, proposals, reports and reviews. Objective: To test the ability to write coherent and well-structured texts.

Listening

Listening (Listening) Duration: Approximately 40 minutes. Parts: Short conversations: Listen to conversations and answer multiple-choice questions. Short monologues: Listen to monologues and choose the right option among several possible ones. Long conversation: Listen to a conversation and select who the listed opinions belong to. Long monologues: Listen to monologues and answer multiple-choice questions. Objective: To evaluate the ability to follow and understand oral content such as interviews, radio programs, presentations and everyday conversations.

Speaking

Oral Expression (Speaking) Duration: 15 minutes for each pair of candidates. Parts: Personal questions: Answer short questions about yourself and your interests. Image description: Describe an image and answer questions about it. Comparison of images: Compare two images and answer questions about them. Presentation: Answer questions related to a shown image. Objective: To test the ability to communicate effectively in face-to-face situations.
